May 2012 Glam Bag Review

I know this is late.  I got my Glam Bag last week and I wanted to review the nail bling I received before posting a review.  So here it is, in all it's glory! :)

May 21, I FINALLY received my Glam Bag.  I don't know WHY it took so long to get my bag this time around, but yeah.  Took FOREVER.  My friend Molly who lives in Tucson too got her's like 3 days before I got mine.  NO CLUE WHY.  Anyway, once again.....

HOT PINK PACKAGING!!!!  :D

Cute bag this month.  I really like last month's better though.  But still, all in all, cute :)  The bag had an odor to it, but after it airs out a bit, I think it'll be fine.

Everything that was stuffed in the bag.  Nail Bling (With 20 multi-sized stickers), sample of Philosophy Love Sweet Love, a FULL SIZE (WOOT) Studio Gear Lipstick in Rose Impressionist (Valued at $15 on http://www.studiogearcosmetics.com/) and two Myglam Brushes.

The Nail Bling is pretty awesome! Mine stayed on for 5 days with minimal damage to the little gem stones.  After about the 5th day though, it start peeling up and the gems started falling off to the point I had to take them off because it was beginning to look bad.   I really like them though!

The lipstick was a pretty berry color.  It's a little dark for summer by it's self, but if I barely apply it and add a gloss, it seems to be PERFECT for summer.

Rose Impressionist Alone on lips

The perfume smells amazing.  Like freshly squeezed grapefruit.  The PERFECT scent for summer.  I love fruity and citrus smells.

I haven't tried the brushes yet, but they are good quality.  One is a concealer brush and the other is a lip/liner brush.

If you would like to try Myglam Click Here.
It's a $10 a month subscription service that provides you with a new cosmetic bag every month and 5-6 deluxe samples of products.  Most which are makeup or beauty products.

Victorian Disco Cosmetics Review

YAY!  Time for another Review!  FIRST AND FOREMOST!!!!  I purchased these items (Except for the freebies that were included for a misunderstanding)  I was not paid in any way to do this review.  This is my honest opinion.

This time it's a Indie Makeup Company.  Victorian Disco Cosmetics is a completely vegan, cruelty-free company based out of Chicago, IL  They believe in bringing pigmented, bright and fun cosmetics to the vegan world, as well as having fun with names and geeky-based collections! Each shadow is hand mixed and is NEVER repackaged under any circumstance, we believe in unique products here, not repackaged every day colors. (Used word for word from their site)

The company opened in December of 2011 on Etsy.com and reviews from bloggers and youtubers pretty much forced Ashley, the owner, to create a Domain name.  As you can see, it's a VERY new company.  But even though it's new, I have nothing but RAVES about it. :)

I placed my order on May 1, 2012, and got it today, May 25, 2012.  "That's a LONG time" I am sure you are saying.  But here's the deal, Ashley was about to go on vacation the day after I ordered, so she ended up not having time to send out the package before she left.  Not a problem.  I wouldn't cancel my planned vacation to get stuff out, plus she let everyone know what was going on on Facebook before leaving.  She got back a week later, and I got my shipping conformation via email from the USPS on the 15th.  6 days later, the tracking was still "Electronic Notification".  So, I emailed Ms. Ashley, and told her my situation.  He was very apologetic, and said that this has happened quite a few times recently with the post office.  After searching her office and not finding anything, Ashley contacted the USPS, and they said they couldn't find the package anywhere.  So, she emailed me back, letting me know what had happened, once again apologized and mailed out a new package on the 22nd with EXTRA GOODIES for my troubles :)  I received it today, the 25th.  So, if it hadn't been for the stupid USPS, I would have gotten my first package in 3 business days.  My first package is lost in the void somewhere.  So, I may or may not get it.  If I do, I may do a give away....

ANYWAY, after everything was cleared up, I was excited to see my package in the mailbox today :D

Not to mention seeing "FRAGILE" on the package gave me a chuckle because it made me think of "A Christmas Story" with the Leg Lamp.

The packaging was SO stinking cute!  I LOVE Hello Kitty, and once again BLACK AND HOT PINK!!! Also included was a business card and a home made scratch off discount card.

YAY for 20% off my next purchase!!!!

Hand written Thank You.  Those always make me feel like I actually MEAN something to the owners.

I ordered The full Sailor Scouts (Sailor Moon) collection in the 1gram jars for $24, the Rinoa and Squall Pair from the Crystalline Affections collection, the Tidus and Yuna Pair from the Crystalline Affections (Final Fantasy) Collection (Both in the 1gram jars.  $4 each), Wookie Noises, Lightspeed, and Emperor (All the 1g size.  All from the Galaxy Far Far Down The Street (Star Wars) Collection, all $2 a piece).  Since the 1g mini jars do not come with the labels on them, I was able to purchase the stickers to put on the jar lids for $0.10 each.  Ms. Ashley even put them on the jars for me :)  My EXTRAS that she included were Hunter's Girlfriend from the Brains 4 Beauty (Left 4 Dead) collection, Choppa Gunna Glitter from the Care Package Glitters Collection and Ewok Pajama Party, obviously from the Star Wars collection.  LOL  The two samples I received were The Timeless One from the Azeroth (WoW )Collection and Youngling from the Star Wars Collection.

Adorable Stickers on the Jar Lids

Final Fantasy based colors.  Yuna was my favorite out of all of these.  There are still more from this collection I need to purchase.

Star Wars Based colors out of the ones I bought.  I LOVE THEM ALL!!  Seriously.  Lightspeed looks like the night sky.  A dark grey color with all kinds of tiny glitter in it.  Wookie Noises, which I mainly bought because of the name, is an amazing brown color with a satin finish. But my favorite of these three has to be Emperor.  It's purplish black color with light pink glitter in it.  Almost reminds me of MAC's Beauty Marked, just not as dark.

Out of these first three of the Sailor Moon collection, Tuxedo Mask was my favorite. It's kind of a darker purple color and very satiny.  It's not that sparkly and blends really well with other colors.  As for Sailor Moon, I was a little disappointed in this color.  Seeing that the Sailor Moon character is my FAVORITE off the show, I was expecting it to be my favorite of the eyeshadows.  The light golden color, while beautiful, didn't excite me as much as I would have liked.  Rini is a pretty baby pink.

Ah, the Kittys.  :)  These colors really impressed me.  Staying true to the characters, the colors are amazing!  Artemis us going to make an awesome highlight color.  It looks white in the picture, but it's got a grey undertone to it which is pretty amazing!  Luna is a pretty dark grey, almost black color with mild shimmery glitter.  Diana makes me smile.  It is the epitome of  the little purple kitty that won our hearts later in the seasons.  It is also one of my favorites.

Venus is a pretty satin sherbet orange.  Mercury is a beautiful oceany color with specks of silver glitter in it.  Perfect for the Scout of Water/Ice.  Mars to me, should have been a bit more red, but to keep the colors Vegan, I can understand why it's not.  It is a really pretty brick red though with a satin finish.

The Outer Senshi are beautiful colors as well!  Pluto is a pretty grassy green color which almost matches the Scout's hair color.  Uranus is an AMAZING bright yellow color with small specks of silver glitter in it.   And Neptune is a really pretty aqua with a satin finish.

The last of the Sailor Moon collection are Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Saturn.  These two colors are AMAZING, and look amazing together!    Jupiter is a BEAUTIFUL lime green color with a low shimmer.  It reminds me a LOT of Sugarpill's Absinthe.  While not as pigmented as Sugarpill, this color has GREAT color.  Sailor Saturn is a GORGEOUS purple with a low shimmer.  It reminds me a lot of BFTE's Grape.  These two are some of my favorites that I got in this package.

Last, but not least, my "STUPID USPS" Freebies.  LOL, at least that's what I'm going to call them! :)
L-R: Hunter's Girlfriend, Ewok Pajama Party and Choppa Gunna Glitter.
While all three are amazing, I LOVE Ewok Pajama Party!!!!  This picture does NOT do this color justice!

The two sample baggies included Youngling on the left and The Timeless One on the Right.  Youngling is a pretty lavender/lilac color. The Timeless One won my heart the moment I swatched it.  I MUST have this color!!!!  It is a GORGEOUS coppery color.

All in all, this baby company is going to make a huge impact in the cosmetics world!  Catering to the world of beauty and the world of Geekdom has won Victorian Disco Cosmetics a place in my makeup bag!  I will be making another purchase from them very soon!

Mini Ulta Haul: OPI Spiderman Polish Spotlight!!!!

Today I met my friend Jess up at the Mall so we could let our little one's play on the foam playground for a while to wear them out.  Jess brought up wanting to go to Ulta, and of course I wasn't going to say no to Ulta!  :)  As soon as we walk in the door, I see SPIDERMAN staring back at me.  OPI has come out with a new Spiderman collection and I just HAD to have it.  They had the four mini bottle set for only $12.50, so I had to snatch it up.  I was going to get only one of the full size bottles, but they were having a promotion that if you bought $17, you got a free nail file.  Ok, that's a lot of money just for a nail file, but it's a $6.50, fold up, metal nail file.  Pretty sweet!

(Photo from http://www.opi.com/)
Colors L-R: Shatter the Scales (Crackle), Number One Nemesis, My Boyfriend Scales Walls,
Just Spotted the Lizard!, Call Me Gwen-Ever, Into the Night and
Your Web or Mine?
(The ones with the stars are the ones I now own)

Just Spotted the Lizard!  is the polish that really caught my eye, and I really wanted a full sized bottle, but ended up with it in the mini set and got Call Me Gwen-Ever in a full size bottle since coral colors are HOT right now :).  The mini set came in a cute box and included Into the Night, Number One Nemesis, Just Spotted the Lizard! and Your Web or Mine.

When I say MINI I mean MINI.  They are so tiny.  But a great size to test out to see if you like the color (Which I may actually go back and suck it up and get the full size of the Spotted the Lizard!  :P)  Above is a size comparison.  The color on the right is a full sized bottle (0.5 FL OZ)  and of course the mini on the left is noticeably smaller (1/8 FL OZ...in other words, it would take 4 mini bottles to equal one full size)

Pretty Call Me Gwen-Ever  (I love this color!!!  It'll be great for the summer)

Free OPI Nail File for buying $17 worth

The colors in the collection are really pretty.  Call Me Gwen-Ever and Your Web Or Mine? are pretty opaque with one application which is great!  The less polish the better in my eyes!  Into the Night is a GORGEOUS blueish purple, I guess to represent the blue in Spiderman's Costume.  Number One Nemesis is almost an antique gold color, closer to a pewter.  Just Spotted the Lizard is a really cool color that changes with the light.  It has a rainbow effect to it where one minute it's a golden color and then it changes to green, almost like a Chameleon.  I love it!

Also from Ulta, I got a Purifying Peel-Off Mask by Merlot (For More Info, Click Here).  It has natural grape seed in it, which promotes anti-aging.  The bottle reads: Formula works to cleanse skin, eliminate blackheads and impurities and minimize appearance of pores.  Skin is left feeling soft and looking clean and clear.  It was on their clearance rack and I've been wanting a nice mask.  :)  So I thought I'd give it a try.  I had never actually tried or heard of Merlot before purchasing this mask.  After applying it, I'm not so sure it's appropriate for sensitive skin because it kinda made mine tingle a bit.  It didn't irritate it though, so that's good.  But if you have extremely sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend it.

I also decided to try an EOS lip balm.  I've been hearing all sorts of raves about it.  I got the Honey Suckle Honey Dew and it of course smells like melon!  I really like it.  My 2 year old thinks it's a ball.  LOL

All in all, I think my small Haul looks pretty promising!  :)  I also looked up a 20% off one item coupon while I was in the store, so always make sure you do that :)

OH!  I almost forgot, I also got my "The Captain" shirt in from Shirt Punch (http://shirtpunch.com/).  Shirt Punch is a One Shirt A Day site where you can get the design of the day for $10 before it's gone FOREVER.  Granted the one I got was voted to come back from the grave yard, which I am extremely happy about.  I haven't really let any of you know, but I am a complete GEEK and love all things geeky. This shirt is of course about Nathan Fillion (The Captain of the Serenity in the show Firefly, and also he play Captain Hammer in Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog)  I usually don't order from Shirt Punch because they take forever to get your merchandise to you.  I think it took them almost 4 weeks to get this shirt to me.  I know my best friend, Marisa, has had the same problems with them.  Also, their women's shirts are not really FITTED.  So they just fit like a regular t-shirt.  But other than that, they are decent quality and worth the $10 you pay for them.

Other One Deal A Day shirt sites I use are:

May 2012 Birchbox: GOSSIP GIRL

YAY!  Look what came in the mail today!  I love seeing the words BIRCHBOX when I open my mailbox.  It makes for a fun Mail day (Especially when bills aren't included with.  LOL)
I LOVE the box that it came in!  Pink and Black baby!  :)

This month, Birchbox teamed up with Gossip Girl to create a themed box.  Honestly, I don't watch Gossip Girl, so this really didn't affect my excitement this time around.  LOL  But from all of the brand names the Birchbox ladies were naming off did.  LOL.  Dior, Stila, Ojon and Dr. Jart to name a few.

Gossip Girl cover

My cat, Pooper, helped with this review. :)

Inside the box on top was of course the card that explains all of your goodies.  I received the "Chic Sunday Brunch" box this time around.  From what I saw on youtube, a lot of other ladies received a different box (which included a full sized item worth $22...I of course, did not).  Anyway, I'm jumping ahead of myself.  This time the paper was yellow (usually it's hot pink).  A+ on the packaging as always.  Birchbox hand wraps EVERY BOX, so, just that alone deserves a standing ovation!

This time around, I got 6 samples :)  Not too bad!  I like it when the box is pretty full.  No full size items :(  (Once again, the fairness factor of sending SOME people full sized items stinks.  Other ladies received a full sized FusionBeauty LipFusion Balm Lip Conditioning Stick SPF 15 worth $22 in their box.  But oh well.  Once again, this service is only $10 a month, so you get what you pay for I guess.  The items I did get were a perfume sample, brush cleaner, nail polish, tinted moisturizer, a head band and a note card.

  • Arquiste: L'Etrog perfume: Warm notes of citron, palm leaves, and myrtle combine in this transporting scent, inspired by the aromas of a medieval harvest festival in Calabria, Italy.  Full-size: $165 (O_O)    My personal opinion of this perfume upon smelling it wasn't the best.  In the bottle it kind of smells mature.  You can defiantly smell the citron in it.  It's not my favorite by any means.

  • Beauty Blender: Blender Cleanser:  Keep your makeup sponges and brushes in prime condition with this soy-based formula, which removes built-up bacteria and oil.  Full-size $17.95  I am actually pretty excited about this cleanser!  I don't own a Beauty Blender, but I know the brand is awesome!  I've heard NOTHING but raves about the actual sponge, so I can only imagine how the cleaner will be :)  I plan on taking it with me when I go on my trip to North Carolina in June since it's the perfect size for my carry on :)

  • Color Club: Nail Polish in Disco Nap:  Give nails a gilded look with this luxe metallic polish.  Full-size, $8.  The color is a beautiful antiquy gold.  It reminds me of my junior year prom dress :)  Ah, memories.  I got a half size which I'm pretty happy about!  It's super shiny.  Very happy with this item as well.

  • Dr. Jart+: Waterfuse BB Cream:  Think of this four-in-one moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, and skin-perfecting tint as the (extremely stylish) Swiss Army Knife of your beauty lineup.  Full-Size $32.  Upon picking up the tiny sample I thought it was empty.  I squeezed out a bit to take a photo of, and couldn't get anymore to squeeze out of the bottle.  I thought I was ripped off.  So, I decided to cut the end off like most people do with the old Urban decay bottles and I was happy to see A LOT more product!!!  So I put it in an empty makeup jar and probably have a good 2 uses out of it.  Enough to see if I like it or not.  I was excited.  I applied some to my hand and noticed a huge difference in the ability to see my pores on it.  The color also blended very nicely :)

  • Twistband: Skinny Headband:  Keep your hair perfectly in place with these colorful elastic headbands. 6 Pack $20.  I think this is the least exciting item in my box this time around.  I haven't actually TRIED it out yet, but this headband is cheaply made.  It's a piece of elastic that is tied at the end.  REALLY???  And a 6 pack is $20? That' makes this one headband "worth" $3.33.  I don't think so.  So no worth it.  The ends of the elastic aren't even heat sealed to prevent fraying.  I doubt it'll even stay in my hair.
Pooper wasn't the least bit excited about it either.

  • Birchbox Extra: Notecards:  Text messages are no match for handwritten notes on fun, modern stationery.  Set of 12 $10: (Ok, when someone adds an "S" to the end of something, usually that means PLURAL.  LOL, but I only got ONE notecard.  Which is ok.  It's cute.  I'll probably end up sending it to my BFF in England.  Have really no opinion for this notecard.  I mean, it's just that, a notecard.

All in all the box this month was much nicer than last months.  At least I didn't get LEFT OVERS.  LOL.  But I wish that either Birchbox would give EVERYONE as full sized or instead, no one a full size and include an extra item in everyone's box.  Just my opinion.
